The Slovenian Drama Group Melbourne is inviting all SAAA members and supporters to attend the cultural program, dedicated to the greatest Slovenian writer, poet, playwright, essayist, polemic and an early proponent of modernism – Ivan Cankar.
The Drama Group is presenting an excerpt from the last act of Cankar’s drama Kralj na Betajnovi – King of Betajnova, a pantomime – the story from the book Na Klancu – behind the Cart, the story of Cankar’s mother Neža, dramatised extracts from the short stories Skodelica kave –Cup of Coffee and Mater je zatajil – He Denied his Own Mother, excerpts from Cankar’s dramas Hlapec Jernej – Serf Jernej and Hlapci – The Serfs – Created for servitude, concluding with some of Ivan Cankar’s best poems.
