In celebration of Prešeren Day, the Slovenian cultural holiday, we invite all interested Slovenians in Melbourne to a special lecture by Assistant Ina Poteko from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana.
The lecture is titled Netspeak and Computer-Mediated Communication: The Influence of English on the Linguistic Practices of Young People. We will explore how the Internet and the use of English have impacted the language practices of Slovenian youth. If you don’t know expressions like “skibidi”, “sigma”, or “no cap” and are curious about how young people use slang online, this lecture is for you! Join us and dive into the language that shapes the future of communication.
